457. Late Period, c. 500-300 B.C., another erotic amulet in faience. This man sits in similar pose except he has his head turned towards the right with extremely large phallus bent over the top of his head. His testicles rest between his feet. 459. Late Period, c. XXVI Dynasty, a mummified ibis! Carefully wrapped fine light brown colored gauze. Mummy was both x-rayed and catscaned. Both reveal complete skeleton with many amulets as well embedded within the bones. In choice condition! All original and rare. Some tattering of the wrappings which is common. 477. Neo-Assyria, c. 1200-900 B.C. a chipped frit seal with a dramatic archer in a chariot with his driver holding the reins for a triga (three horse chariot.) This is a very early depiction of this hunting or battle scene. The small chip at the top concerns a small part of the upper line which is complete on the ground level. There appears to be an upper part of a soldier above the horses' heads. $500
478. Neo-Assyria, c. 1200-900 B.C. a serpentine seal with two heraldic or rampant goats, a sun disc, crescent moon and a blooming flower and a star burst between the animals. H: 40 mm. Part of the original string still appears to be in longitudinal hole. A choice cylinder seal. $1250

Iranian Plateau
485. Gilan, c. c. 1500-1000 B.C., a museum quality bronze helmet with pointed crown. Of simplistic domed shape. A heavy bronze helmet with very top of helmet coming to a point. Some age cracks at base of point, otherwise of attractive light green color and in very nice condition. Ht: 11". This helmet was also published and illustrated and exhibited in Tokyo, Japan in 1980 in "The World of Persian Pottery", 1980, #84. FROM THE JAY GLUCK COLLECTION $4,500
486. Azerbaijan, c. 1500-1000 B.C., a large and very impressive bronze belt. Belt is of flat and hammered bronze that measures 3.5" at widest location near center. Belt is embossed with two deer surrounded by two lions, both lions with mouths wide open as if ready to attack. Each deer stands walking towards each other with their antlered heads turned back to view approaching predators. A large rectangle made of small row of hammered bumps or dots encircles the four animals. Belt was easily worn by fastening a small hook at one side to open hole on opposite side. Some areas of chipping and slight bends otherwise in very fine condition with attractive light green patina on brown colored bronze. In permanently bent, semicircular shape and about 18" across from end to end. About 36" if measured in flat posture. Belt was published, illustrated and exhibited in Tokyo, Japan in 1980 in "The World of Persian Pottery", 1980, #86. Also in "The World of Persian Pottery", 1980, #82. Also illustrated in Exhibition Catalogue, 2500th Anniversary of the Persian Empire, 1971, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka by the Japanese Government Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 487. Urartu, (Ancient Armenia), c. 900-750 B.C. A similar lot of three fragments from an important bronze incised belt. width 3.75". On the longest fragment L: 35 cm are two beautifully incised animals; the design is continued on a 30 cm fragment and the smallest L: 9.5 cm just has geometric designs. A desirable lot worthy of proper mounting in a museum devoted to ancient Armenian culture. FROM THE JAY GLUCK COLLECTION $1500
488. Luristan, c. 1500-1000 B.C., a fabulous and rare bronze dagger with original stone handle almost completely intact. Blade is of typical shape and ungrooved. Handle has two identical insets which house original white stone grips. Only small central section piece is missing on both sides. Ends of handle in shape of crescent. Length is 13.25". Condition is excellent; patina light and dark green. Very similar to #16 in "Artifacts from Tribal Burial Mounds, 1974 which also had partial handle intact (handle was not as complete as is this). 491. Luristan, c. 2100 B.C. A bronze axe head with incised feathered designs on both sides of blade. 502. Modern Iran, late 18th century helmet (kolah), hemispherical in shape with human facial features, the eyes, brows, and nose in relief, and a mustache attached with screws. Below mustache a circular movable nose-mouth guard. Atop the helmet are two fixed horns and a central spike. The helmet still has some chain mail attached to the edges and the entire surfaces are elaborately inlaid with inlaid gold floral designs. D: 19 cm; H: 28 cm. Cf. The Netherlands, Utrecht, Paulus van Vianen, c. 1550-1613, a silver bas relief depicting the Holy Family with Saints Elizabeth, Zachary and the youthful John the Baptist. with other spectators including a reclining dog in the foreground and a round building in the background. 15 cm x 11 cm. See accompanying correspondence from the Rijks Museum which suggests that the piece which they call of high quality may not have been done by van Vianen but perhaps his son or from his workshop. The relief has a beautiful cabinet patina and it is in superb condition. $5000-7500
