2106. Armarna. This is a fabulous example of Amarna Period faience. Originally a ring bezel with an impressed, stylized lotus flower design. A crisp and glowing blue color. Measures 20.8 mm (0.82") in length. Condition: the ring is missing to antiquity and there's a small nick to the edge in the 4 o'clock position on the bezel, as seen, but otherwise excellent. An exceedingly rare piece. This piece comes from a reputable English collection. Was originally part of the collection that was published in the book Gifts Of The Nile on Page 164 by Florence Dunn Friedman. The description by Paul T. Nicholson on page 257 therefore goes with this piece. A rare opportunity to own a pedigreed, authentic piece from the City Of Light! $950
2107. Armarna, an exceedingly rare, yellow and green faience tile fragment from Amarna with obvious restoration. There is a similar piece in the Asmolean Museum in Oxford and two others I'm aware of in private hands. The tile is from a large, inlaid frieze depicting a marsh scene. Fragments like these are only ever found in museums. This is highly rare. Measures: 60 mm long and 40 mm wide. A sizable piece. $975
2108. Armarna. This is an exceedingly rare object. This XIX Dynasty bezel is for "Wsr-Ma'at-Re" (Rameses II). For comparable see Beckerath's "Handbuch der Agyptischen Konigsnamen", page 155, Item T1. It should be noted that the name of "Wsr-Ma'at-Re" in RARE cases can be written with a Ma'at holding the Anubis-headed staff (Wsr). However, if this is the case, then she is usually standing or sitting on a square throne, and other signs should follow her as in Beckerath's list. For example, (s-sign; usually also epithets) or nothing at all (*). So. since this piece has the "Wsr" staff directly in Ma'at's hand, it is exceedingly rare. The shape of the bezel is that of a cartouche, rendered in lavender and green/blue faience. Measures: 15.84 mm (.623") long by 9.23 mm (.363") wide. $975
