The Cretan bull was terrorizing Crete because King Minas had deceived Poseidon by slaughtering another bull in its’ place. When Hercules got to Crete, he easily wrestled the bull to the ground and drove it back to King Eurystheus. Eurystheus let the bull go free. It wandered around Greece, terrorizing the people, and ended up in Marathon, a city near Athens, later to be killed by Theseus.

Furia Sabinia Tranquillina was the daughter of Gaius Furius Sabinius Aquila Timesitheus, who was appointed as the commander of the praetorian guard in 241 AD. She was married to Gordian later that year. Her imperial issues are very rare, most likely not to honor her father’s position too highly, so most collectors obtain a colonial issue, which are plentiful.
