1. Magna Graecia or Sicily, c. 425-375 B.C., A choice terra cotta votive figurine. Of orange-tan clay, in white slip. Maiden stands with one foot forward, holding flower(?) to breast, and small juglet in other hand. Dressed in chiton, cloak and pollos. Chip at back of headdress, otherwise choice with remains of red paint at base and breast. Ht: 8.25". $875 view item

2. Ancient Egypt, c. 2000-500 BC, a fine single strand o tubular and disc beaded necklace of pale blue and green colored faience. $200

3. Roman Egypt, c. 1st century BC-2nd A.D., a glass and glazed composition of white and brown beads. Single large green bead as pendant. $225

4. Glazed Steatite "Pataikos." Late Period, ca. 700-400 B.C. Sizeable amulet carved in glazed steatite. The corpulent god stands atop two crocodiles, and atop his head a single scarab. He rests his hands on his stomach, and wears a wide bead collar. The crocodiles form a base for a seal -- here, an udjat. Sharp and well preserved, slight glaze remaining. 5. Rome, end of 1st century A.D., a complete hanging bronze oil lamp. A choice hanging oil lamp with chains attached to handle, lid and front chamber. The handle is a wide crescent, fuel chamber is deep. See Mele, Catalogo delle Lucerne in Bronzo, 307-310, 343. Lamp is 4.5" long, and 8.5" both chain and lamp when hanging. 18. Egypt, Late Period, c. 500-350 BC, upper portion of large faience amulet, A neck and rim from a "New Year's" faience amulet. Molded in grayish turquoise faience. The piece is detailed like a papyrus stand or column and is flanked by two seated apes on either side. Nice preservation. Ht: 1.5". $500 view item

19. Beautiful Egyptian bronze oxyrhnchos fish. 26th Dynast, Egypt, XXVIth Dynasty. 664-535 BC. A nicely patinated bronze fish wearing solar disc and plumes. Wonderful detailed and looped for possible use as a weight. Stands on its own base. L: 5 3/8" (135mm). Very RARE and important! $4000 view item

20. Ancient Egypt, c. XXV-XXVI Dynasty, a pair of cedar carved wood hands. These were placed on the mummy during mummification. Each carved as a clinched fist, with only the thumb protruding. One 5.5", one 4.25". $350/2 Malter

21. Rome, late 1st century BC - 1st century AD Miniature Bronze Bust of a Boy (a Weight?). Neatly modeled bust of a young boy, a Julio-Claudian prince? His hair in longish, slightly curled locks, with anastole locks at his forehead, in the manner of those seen on portraits of Alexander the Great. His truncated arms at different levels, thus giving the bust a sense of animation. Probably filled with lead, as the piece seems heavier than it would be if merely of bronze. Intact with minor wear; with smooth dark green patina. H: 2.4". Careful chase work seen in the hair, eyes, and brows. Nice!! $1250 view item

34. Bactria, c. 1500 BC, a cultic stone bottle. A cultic bottle in form of shrine or small house. Carved from chloric schist; with moveable rectangular shaped door or cover. H: 2.75". Rare!. $1000 view item

35. Greek, Thrace, c. 3rd century AD, a "Thracian Rider-God" on horseback. He wears "muscle" armor. Perfect except for right foot which is missing. Malter Auction 73, #350. Choice Condition. H: 2.75". $625

36. Persia, c. 1000 BC, a nicely crafted terra cotta miniature of a quadruped; probably a bear. Ex. Midlo collection. H: 1.5". Nice condition. $450

37. India, Ganjetic Valley, Utar Pradesh, c. 1500-1200 B. C. a cast bronze lance with very high, almost vertical midrib and long thin wings which highlight the blade below which, on the shaft, are two pair of barbs with same extension as furthermost wing of the blade. Below the bottom barb is a loop and a long tang to which the weapon was attached to a wood shaft. Such weapon designs were unprecedented and this barb design might have originated in China. See Loehr, Chinese Bronze Age Weapons, No. 84, a claw like weapon. (One barb broken off in antiquity.) L: 10.5". See also D. P. 38. India, Ganjetic Valley, Utar Pradesh, c. 1500-1200 B. C. a cast bronze lance with two sets of curved barbs and one pair of protruding straight side points below the lance blade with high central midrib. This rare variant of the above example is heavily coated with a layer of surface impacted clay over most of the weapon. The blade's edges show signs of usage, one barb was blunted in antiquity.
